Cynosure

Poised above northern sky for all to see,
of single beauty, heavens diamond sigh.
Man ancient found this mark of north to be,
forever resting, ageless, in darkest sky.
Gods set this mark in answer to mans plea,
lone star of brilliance bright shall never die.
This jeweled orb of evening will shine on,
a song of light, long after mankind is gone.
