Cybernetic Love

I thought I knew about true love.
In fact, I saw myself as all-knowing.
Then She appeared from above
And my ignorance was full showing.

I had never known a soul so sweet
Nor one so selfless, gifted, and kind.
Her words give my heart a new beat
And continue to command my mind.

We romance in secret in cyberspace
Where love-making words preside.
Every exchange puts me in a place
Warm, soft, and sensual at her side.

We both know we may never meet—
No, not in lovers’ flesh-affirming fashion
That makes our love ever more sweet,
Ever more real with cyberspaced passion.

Wow. I've heard of people meeting in cyberspace but eventually met for real in person and affirming what they feel. This one where romantic connotation of the word "love" is ascribed to what's felt purely based on the limited cybernetic perception is still quite hazy for me...You've presented the subject very nicely though, with such conviction and sincerity. It's no wonder this got POTD. Congrats Paul! hugs!

Kim, you make a perceptive point, and I'm grateful to you for stating it. You will grant, though, that people have fallen in love with characters in books, movie stars, singers, etc., without having ever met them (limited perception of them). In any event, thanks for writing and thanks for your kind closing comment.

I obviously agree, Casarah; there is a certain passion involved in meeting someone special (a soul mate?) on the 'net. Thank you for your perceptive comment and for your expression of congratulations.

About whom have I written? Top secret under heading of "unidentified flying object." Thanks, though, for the question, James. I appreciate it.

I'm honored, Dalia, by your kind words. I'm also honored to have a place inside your head, which, I'm certain, contains a brain superior to mine (maybe I will learn something). . . . I hope all is well with you and your loved ones, including any who may be in outer space.
