Cursing Cathartic

Cursing Cathartic

I blooming swear too much these days
It really is disgraceful.
Went from one not to boo a goose
To using words distasteful.

It happened by design you see
Set emotions free from me.
From where they had long lain -
Damaging and wasteful.

Don’t get me wrong it was
Effective in the expressive.
Speed it became habit alas
Just a little too impressive.

Cleansed now of historical debris -
Free at last to be me here now.
Contentment has no such hold over me
It is time for cursing to take a bow.

Lovely and so precised to the heart with a very good linking understanding to the mind. A definite 7

Hey, Fiona. I think you have conveyed the point quite nicely. I don't agree with it, but that is no reflection on the writing, the humor, or, necessarily, the mssg. Since childhood, I have tried (and, mostly succeeded) in using similar words, regardless of listener. The "f" word has been used absurdly for over 2 decades in movies. To say, "They're just words" irritates me. If THAT'S all they are, poets are meaningless. The one things that separates us from all others should be respected. :)

A delight to read, flowed with effortless ease. A swear word is just a word which we've been told not to use, a lot of fuss about nothing is what I say, after all they all come out of the same hole !!!

Thank you Lenny. I do agree with you, my issue was that it had become purely habitual, slipping out at the wrong times!

I like such honesty and contrast of then and now and modesty rules; yet I do agree, such venting is therapeutic. have a wonderful weekend.

This poem is superb, and your skill and message captivating. Not many poems command a second reading, but this one of your did.
