Curious Ruuk
One day this Ruuk left his tree,
some thought this unnecessary
A tiny Ruuk unclasped his hook
dropped nervously into the brook
Swiftly picked by the glassy water
tumbled one way, then tumbled the other
Hurray, at last, he could see the sky
as trees and branches sped on by
High above watched the domain of Ruuk
some aghast, some giving funny looks
“You foolish thing, what have you done
left a tree where once you clung
Below you lies the cold unknown
indeed, where it sweeps no one knows”
But the Ruuk kept his tongue...
because he'd grown cold, quiet and numb
They say he died when freezing water
soaked him before he slipped deep under
Some say he swims with ocean fishes
others, this story be entirely fictitious
“There ain't no such thing as Ruuk
and more fool them who go to look”
But I say Ruuk are real as you and me
spending their lives hiding in trees
Invisible mostly, well behaved, studious
But sometimes... sometimes,
one gets curious
