Cupid's Arrow
A young suitor stood shyly before her
his heart full of promises yet to bestow
her heart ready to burst with joy.
It seemed that day that angels sung in celebration.
Their eyes did not meet entirely at once
as was customary in polite society,
only his quiet words betrayed the depth of his desire.
A voice she would come to love.
She takes her leave lest she betray her delight
and returned his parting bow, and
in that moment her heart fluttered as a bird on the wing.
For surely Cupid had fired his arrow.
