Cupfuls of Wishful Thinking

I would like to eat
I would like to eat some cake
but not any cake will do
I would like a wish day cake
The funny man in the cat hat said,
as he hops his tail, so white.
You wish for cake that I will do.
Away, he went on a pink kite.
I hear jumps and thumps
then bumps from the hall.
A funny little thing, all a mess,
rid a red ball and in his hands a pot,
with a plop. Here is your dish,
said the funny little thing.
Stop , stop said, sad Sally
I fear, this is not my wish,
this dish is not wish day cake
Call the funny man in the cat hat!
He came fast on toy strings and a rake
Sally sank as she sat back and said,
to the man, with a cat hat on his head.
I asked for cake but I get playthings and tricks
I would like to eat
I would like to eat some cake
but not any cake will do
I would like wish day cake
Then he said, He with the cat on his head.
The fine line you must not of read
and it is plainly said, this is a game,
at The Cat in the Hat Restor-a-rant.
Where we take a few words, you know
and where It does not fit the story
We make cake in no hurry but have fun
We are the nerds who put fizz in fiffer-feffer-feff.
The cleft in wimbly–wombly-woo’s
and at The End, then you can have your cake and eat it too!
