This poem portrays what a friend was going through after losing her husband to an accidental death. In this instance, it was on an operating table. I could see and feel the emotions that she was going through. It retched her soul; She was my minister giving a sermon about his passing.
“Cup of Hope”
Blood poured from his heart,
staining the floor.
Thundering tears poured
from the rafters in her soul.
She kissed his lips.
His last breath hers.
She held him tight,
Her Knight had passed.
Lightning struck,
the sky turned black.
He rose to the heavens.
She prayed for life anew.
That time will cease,
when they renew.
She knew it then,
she knows it now.
She lives in dreams;
paints one every night.
You are my love.
my life, my hope.
We’ll love again,
in a galaxy far.
In my hands
I hold a cup.
A cup of gold.
A treasured cup.
It runneth over.
It runneth over with love.
We’ll share this cup
when we meet up there.
