Crying In My Sleep

was dreaming a dream
about times of past
but a dream is a dream
and no dream does last
we were laughing in a park
and the night it was dark
we were laughing by the sea
but something was bothering me
and then in my dream I wept
and it made me wake in the dark
the truth it did so hurt
that on my dream I did not embark
a dream doesn't stay a dream
its not something to hold
its something to realise
to take and use it bold
but I knew that I would do this
if you would only let me go
but I sat there helpless , unable to understand
why your heart was all of woe
I cried for you, in that dream
not for myself atall
not for my lost dreams,
because a dream I can always recall
and start again,
even though I said to myself
I didn't know when
but I saw that your dreams had slipped away
you had really stopped dreaming atall
and your laughter was cold
and the sea air made my skin crawl
I cried in my sleep for you
