Cry, America
In the confusion
so confounding, A Confliction, everyone’s conviction - to voice, to reason,
and
nothing
changes.
A man was murdered today in the streets,
Tomorrow, next week,
next month a shooting-
a school, a grocery shop, holiday parade.
Why is it that we must die for your injustice?
You corrupt politician! Faithless practitioner!
Sandy Hook was a tragedy,
Look at Robb Elementary,
twenty twenty-two.
Nineteen tiny coffins,
two teachers - our modern heroes.
A far right constipation! Begone, truth!
Up is done, left is right, sideways always!
Gather arms, gather arms!
Second amendment! Second amendment!
Cry, Constitution!
Founding Fathers!
Cry, oh America!
We, the land of the Despairing,
and the robbed -
Raise a cry for those gone too soon,
Raise a cry for the childless mothers.
Raise a cry for the tired and the scared,
The hurting, the bruised, beaten.
Raise a cry for the confused,
the misinformed, spoon fed fool.
Witness our bleeding hearts!
Tears! Let them fall!
Cry, oh America!
