Cross Country
I
flew
past miles
of fences
made of stone
along the fields,
through the dusk
into moon time,
into great pines whose tips
brushed the stars.
And the moon came close
and blessed the snow
so cold, so cold,
and lit the silence
so deep,
so bright!
