Crooked Smiles
Whatever the price,
we roll the dice.
Gamble and deceit,
crooks in the night.
Nothing for free,
luck so costly,
whatever the price.
We debt or we die,
we try, at least try.
We're believers,
our fiction, the mind convincing,
our lies hiding behind,
the ears listen when,
the light blinds the eyes.
We learn, we know,
if we say we do wrong,
what we say,
makes us right.
We know to owe,
is to cheat with a smile.
Crooks in the night,
every inch take a mile.
