Crisis

CRISIS

It was just before Christmas I recall
Listening to Glen Miller on the radio live from New York
Our small son was just playing in our garden before breakfast was ready
And a savage dog suddenly burst in and sank
Teeth into his leg and hurt him badly
He couldn’t defend himself
Before I could run to help him
We took him to hospital bleeding
And he needed some stitches
His temperature shot up
And we were afraid of rabies
But the doctor tested and assured us
It would be only a temporary setback
He’d be on his feet again in no time
The crisis would pass and he would recover.
So I took him home again.
I think Pearl Harbor was attacked on the same day

What a twist this poem is....from one personal crisis....to a world wide crisis...a genius way to show how small our world is in one way....and yet the global picture can be great to each one of us...in ways that last forever. Well done!!

How tragic, Syd. Children are so playful and dogs react unpredictably. I'm so glad your son recovered. Bet he didn't get close to dogs after that. And it's ironic this occured on the day Pearl Harbor was bombed. Roosevelt said this day would "live in infamy." Takes on a whole new meaning for your family. Have a blessed Easter, my friend. Love, Carolyn
