Crimson Tears
a gentle kiss
upon the soft
velvet folds
of a lone rose
enslaved
in its bed of thorns
i am enraptured
by its beauty
my lips long
for the warmth
of lips pressed
against a child's head
beneath soft whispers
of a mother's love
yet it can't subsist
in memories
where it never
existed
i see the tangles
of vines
grown from seeds
dirtied beyond the roots
that were the stem
of survival
i feel it struggle
to stand proud
in the storm's trails
endless floods
of emotional depths
i feel it shiver
in the tempo
of wind's shift
where life meets death
beyond lip's cold press
i feel the needle
of its thorn
pierce me again
beneath crimson tears
i cry
a gentle kiss
upon the rose
as i place it
against the stone
that holds your name
i linger
in its beauty
beneath your shame
