Crimes against humanity

In a land torn by evils cruel hands
where innocence once thrived in golden sand
echoes now haunt barren torched lands
of children lost, tears fall in graves of pain

Fourteen thousand souls, too young to know
caught in the crossfire, victims oppressed
their laughter silenced as dreams cut short
in a horror of genocide where all limbs bleed

Babies cradled in arms, so tender and small
now lie cold and lifeless, victims silent in white shawls
their tiny hearts, once filled with hope's embrace
now silenced forever in a merciless disgrace

The army's march such ruthless crimes
leaving devastation in its tide
families torn apart by Israels cruel wand
as they mourn the loss of those they held fond

Oh, may their memory be a solemn vow
strive for peace and harmony, lets end sorrow forever now
for in the wake of such unfathomable hate
lies a plea for humanity to erase this state

Aysha, war is awful, and the Israel military operation does not protect innocent civilians. While I consider war itself as wrong, what is happening here could be considered a war crime by the world at large. Sadly, I doubt that this conflict will end soon. Some columnists have written what could be done to create mideast peace, but the various sides seem entrenched. It's as if the people in power have no concept of what you describe in your poem.

Your title says it all, and we should all take notice. You paint the grim picture in all it's horror and senselessness. Meanwhile, the chess players leading these children to slaughter are not known nor seen in their lairs of power, oil, central bank monopoly currency, and who knows what else.

Sad situation for all those involved. A feud that has lasted for thousands of years with some people taking it to the limit. I think Israel has the right to defend its people and country, but it has gone on too long. I understand the idea of wanting to get rid of Hamas, but will that ever happen? Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us in poetic form. I appreciate the visit to my page. Sara K
