Covered Bridge
The bridge is covered with fear;
stories have been told of people disappearing
without a trace. It's one mile stretch
doesn't make it any easier.
The bridge is covered with hate;
many folks want it blown up, because it
has taken away people they love. The mayor's
decree to protect the century-old bridge
has fallen on deaf ears.
The bridge is covered with mist;
weeping, laughter, and whispers can be heard
in the wind blowing against the bridge
from both sides. Those who return back
are never the same again....
