Cover of Night

The speckled licorice skies close the days As the sun yields to softer lunar rays Reflections on the frayed linen patch quilt To capture each thread with a silver gilt Delicate fingers that crafted each stitch To hold a precious memory in place A patchwork of time as our thoughts retrace Such wealth remembering made living rich Yet time goes by and the patches must fade As we slept beneath the starlight parade The solemn witness to passion beneath Our love embracing the nights unafraid From the first kiss to scented bridal wreath Sweet memories that is a quilt’s bequeath © JG Farmer 2017 Form: Divino Sonetto 1
