Courtship
Attentively. cautiously, carefully
he strokes her, precise code, every touch
precision tuned, right rhythm
the red diamond glows, he feels her relax
Soured signal, a moment of doubt,
involuntary shudder, watches horrified
his efforts at concentration increase
harkening back centuries old intuition
Quietly, softly, gently he inserts his package
contribution to immortality finished
now more so caution flashes
dimly lit hour glass glows rhythmically!
Times ticking reminder he's in a race
for his very life. He clears the last hurdle,
splendidly jumping, she is dangerously fast,
neatly catching his extended leg.
Ripping if off with savage twist; a freaky fall
frees him from her grasp, he hobbles wobbly away.
