Courageous In the Night
My tears of gratitude incessantly have flowed
at these, your tenderly written intrepid words
Lifted my wilted feathers to fly with noble birds
For, ever with illness thrust upon my life was sowed
I’ve stood my ground and could not then be mowed
In childhood words were tossed; barbs were thrown
could weakness of body be my spirits only path?
Shoulders broad to shield my pain and wrath
I ran for shame to hide my broken plaintive moan
To relive those days in secret when I’m grown
Through cancers grasp I reaped the winning fight
Release my sigh on lifted wings sewn tenacious strong
You thought me weak, now see how you were wrong
My faith has led me through my challenged night
With torch in hand I reach to touch the dancing light
