Courage Comes From Within

There was a young woman facing a demon so strong she hardly had the courage to breathe. Craved forgiveness and wanted bravery in her life. She prayed for strength. She was daring, but in the worst way. She knew what she was doing was wrong, but still couldn’t stop her addiction. She held onto that drink for years like it was a magnet. A gravitational force pulling her deeper into death. She prayed for the courage. She didn’t have the desire to pick up her journal anymore. Writing was her passion. She lingered into an oblivion beyond her control and woke up almost near death. demons without names craving strength and bravery lost in addiction Hospitals became home and medication become routine. Her life had spiraled and now all the changes left her as a black and white faceless frame begging for colored pictures. I don’t know the exact moment, or where she was or what she was doing, but she felt a release of comfort. She revived her heart. She had boldness in her bones and spirit in her soul. Her determination to get healthy and happy came and has never left. life out of control but new beginnings prevailed determination Her prayers had been answered. She found the courage to live again. She stopped the self-pity and regret. She awoke every morning in prayer and started writing once again. Picking up her journal was the bravest thing she’d ever done. For it is in self-expression that she found most relief. She faced no fear. Her trepidation had been thrown out. She has been healthy and happy for almost eight years. God had saved her once again from the brink of death. praise in thanksgiving courage killed her deep demons this woman is me What Courage Means To You Contest Sponsor: John Hamilton Written: December 16, 2016

Good job with an addicts courage, LuLoo. Second hailbun has 'hospitals became' and 'medication become' - shouldn't tense be same? There's internal blood spilt on this one and you know what I mean! Very emotional ... CayCay

WoW! Laura, this is such a heartwarming story of courage. I agree, courage comes from within. Once a person realizes that fact they are able to conquer any demon.Because courage takes away fear's power. I wasn't expecting the twist at the end. You are a strong and courageous woman who overcame many demons, I'm so happy your found your courage. This most definitely reads like a winner to me. I wish you the best of luck in the contest. A without a doubt 7 and a fave:-) Alexis
