Courage and Saintly Grace

Letter To A Dying Friend

What I saw of you at the meeting on Saturday was very different from what I heard said about you on Sunday night. I think not that anything had changed, but I rather sense that you have chosen to look well without regard to your feeling.
I was touched by such saintly grace.

Though wounded, you are a brave warrior.
Though stricken and afflicted, you are one fighting soldier.
You are an inspiration to all who know and love you.

When ever I should face any test or trial;
Or if ever I am hit by a massive storm;
Or if ever the creek rises and the river
overflows its bank; Or if the flood waters of life pour into my soul,                   and my heart is overwhelmed; Or if ever I am assaulted by sickness or disease;
Or if there is no cure for what ails me;
Or if the earth should quake beneath my feet;
Or if everything seems weary, worn, and weak;
Or if I am in the last stages of life, and all earthly
hope for my recovery is lost;

May I look as good as you, even if I’m not feeling well.
May I, although feeling like death, like you, show up for life.
May I like you, keep on inspiring others.
May I like you, keep on giving and giving.
May I like you, though dying, keep on living.
