Couplets of Communion With My Lord
I long, I pray, I cherish, I hold,
the promise that my Lord foretold.
To me, God's word, is always true,
by grace, my Lord makes all things new.
A life long plea, my Lord did grant,
transformed by spirit, seed into plant.
Nestled alone, but full of life,
no longer shrouded in shame or strife.
One with my true and loving Lord,
does then, his mercy, strike a cord.
I seek to see through heaven's eyes,
beyond aesthetics or pale-blue skies.
I pray for peace, within my heart,
to cultivate a brand new start.
I pray for safety, a lasting home,
somewhere I can call my own.
I long for children, to impart my love,
another to share life's laughter, a turtle dove.
I pray, God's will be done, let it be so,
that I shall follow him, wherever I must go.
For now I see, I see, I see, I see!
The Lord, his presence, lives in me!
So I ask, only, that he dwells in me, and I, in him.
That I may live life's fullness and rebuke sin.
For one day, when this earthly life wears thin,
may I, in faith, by grace, God's home, enter in.
And greet, my Lord, with warm embrace,
my Father, my God, my saving grace.
