Country Road
Country Road
There's nothing like kicking back in a rocking chair.
A day off drinking a beer.
No worries in sight.
My soul will soon take flight.
Just clouds in the air.
A cool breeze here and there.
A country road away from the crowd.
Peace and quiet, not too loud.
Like a harp, strings in the air.
Next to me is an empty chair.
I’m just a run down old man.
Setting here with an empty glass.
Drink into the night.
Look up into the sky.
Nothing else to hold on to.
Days are numbers and short, so true.
Dust flies from driving down an old country road.
No other place but home.
Sit back and watch the days go by.
I just wanted you to be mine.
Sorry I didn’t say the words you needed to hear.
Soon the end of my life is near.
One day we can have closure.
Time is flying, and that's for sure.
Everything is just a blur.
Your heart has always been pure.
