Country Dreamer
With a song to sing and words to say,
I open my mouth to make a way
for my tunes and rhymes.
My thoughts flow in and out,
my mind's full of colors,
I'm just a poor country dreamer.
Rain's splattered down against the leaves
of this lonesome, solitary tree
where 'neath I lay me down.
The leaves sway with the breeze
that soothes the mind and soul
of this lone country dreamer.
Night and day my friends will hear me sing,
unmindful of what tomorrow may bring.
I would not mind its pains,
I'll just live my own life.
You ask your questions, I have my answers,
oh, I'm just a country dreamer.
