Counting The Days

So many days have passed Too many to count Not that I would want to know But the thing to remember The more days behind me The fewer there are ahead But I’m not afraid of that last day Maybe I will spend that day drinking Or I may find another way to be in trouble I can be sure of one thing: I will not sit around I will not be sad or cry And I will not allow anyone else to feel that either I have been here more days than I deserve So, one more may be one too many Or it may be one less, And that may be too few Who knows and who cares After all, I might just need the rest © Poem – XVIII/VII/MMXXV LRET
