Cotton-Pickin' Paradise

Down south of a dirty delta town
after double-winged dusters sweep low
White hats, bent backs and bloody hands
sway to the rhythm of summer snow fields
Backed by a choir of ten thousand crickets
reaching up to touch heaven with a song

Oh my......I would place this one high.....it soars with nostalgia, and into the sky with crop dusters that I remember sweeping over my home, sprinkling the fields of alfalfa across our road. I miss seeing you more often, Tim. Hope all is well !!

I very fine write. One that impresses me greatly since I know such cotton fields intimately , having actually picked cotton as a very young boy (EARLY 60'S) here in the South. Extremely hard and back breaking work it was!!!! Bravooooo on this great write !!!!!

A word picture painted with the brush stroke of genius ... This has a melancholy tone, but with dignity woven thru it ... A tribute to a historical landscape and past as tho' I could hear the crickets chirping (oh-wait ... that was yesterday) ...(smile) ... Your Pal, Moonie

Tim, I reread this one of yours again on Deb's contest page recently and wanted to tell you that for me, it was the most inspiring but then I realized she only wanted free verse and I can't come up with a free verse for it. However, maybe later I will work on a pantoum. Just love this one!!!
