Cosmos

Tonight I looked up,
wide eyed and mouth agape.
The heavens glittered with stars,
making exquisite shapes.

The darkness all around,
tried hard to engulf their sheen.
But they flickered and
flaunted a spectacular scene.

In the dead of the night,
the sleepy town snored.
While a valiant hunter,
named Orion wielded a sword.

The mighty bull Taurus,
charged angrily around the sky.
And the Gemini twins edged close,
gleaming and feeling shy.

The beaming Polaris,
glimmered in the far north.
Helping the adrift voyagers,
to navigate, steer and sail forth.

Dancing across the heavens,
the shooting stars slowly wane.
Like diamonds falling slowly
from the zenith, making it rain.

The charming Venus smiled
coyly, making the stars swoon.
And had a heart to heart,
with the glorious full moon.

So, I gazed intently into the
infinity mirror of the universe.
Blissfully ignorant of the time,
I contemplated matters, deeply immersed.

A profound sense of calm
and bliss washed over me.
Allied with the magnificent cosmos,
I was tranquil and free.

If you glance above once,
you'll be blown away.
The alluring mysteries of universe,
will make you sway.

Whenever you lose hope,
look up and you'll know.
How trivial your issues are,
under the starry glow.

With one last peek,
I retired for the night.
Bidding farewell to the celestial
entities shining so bright.

Thanks for sharing this. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." God bless you."
