Corporate Takeover

On Thursday you're a valued employee on Friday you're shown the door Last week you worked for a company that today exists no more It's a corporate takeover a brutal, hostile makeover Your heart tosses, turns and aches over the coals your efforts get raked over A voice deep within gnaws at your skin The pit of your stomach a knot of chagrin ~ Why is it always like this, for God's sake, quake over earth-shattering quake-over?

I guess I wish that it didn't resonate quite so well right now with you, as I now recall your poem about layoffs. btw: my little 'training center' was just bought by a university, and the firings, intimidation, etc. are very 'old school' unfortunately. But they can't keep a good woman or a good man down. We will rebound!!! :) gw

Well penned, Gershon. Workers are just numbers more and more.

--and more! You are so right, Line. Just numbers for the bean-counters to grind and for the MBA's to crunch...And so it goes... ~Gershon

You are so right, Unfortunately! … Corporate execs toast the acquisition, while those who put their necks on the line --- did just that. Chop, Chop: a sad sign of our times. Thank you for your visit and insight, Janice. Best wishes, gw
