Coping With the Pain

How can it be true that I’m hurting once again?
When one tragedy ends another one soon begins
Fighting back tears, I smile to fool you all
Despite all of the pain, trauma, and hate I haul
For people, places and all of the small things
It’s scary what anger the memories can bring
Feeling alone with my thoughts of rabid hate
Wondering how much more torture I can take
Rainbows and butterflies, flowers and bluebirds
All it would take is a very few kind words
I have a good heart and I can be loving and kind
One of these days I hope happiness I’ll find
With peace and joy, spread some harmony around
Devotion for each other, how does that sound?
To be alone is worse than being sick or dead
Just like leaving your love, then feeling the dread
Coping with the pain alone is not easy or fair
But obviously you understand and you care
