Convince Me

Convince me I am wrong to assume
You only mean for me the best,
For I am prone to believe your words
In them your intentions seem manifest.

Holding feelings very close to my chest
Your compliments inspire me to excel,
Yet sometimes I sense vainglorious praise
And an insincere sappiness, I can’t tell.

Convince me I am right to presume
You only mean for me the best,
And I shall continue to receive your words
Believing your intentions in them manifest.

(chuckling) I've been writing stuff recently that I don't where it comes from.

I assume everyone is, but how can one be sure?
