Contest By Fire

Mark how the forest fires burn
Melaleucas mature to baptism come
Yielding all as to a sacred urn
And still through death flame wisdom
Bringing seeds fire cannot destroy
Mark how the invaders dominant stay
Against the native hope of joy
For we vulnerable pine and decay
Too innocent for the monstrous fight
Too drunk to resist, like moths in flight
The forest fires hell and night
Because we are hypnotized by light.

I love the metaphor and imagery. Well done!
