CONTEMPLATING YESTERDAY, TODAY & TOMORROW
Sitting here in deep thoughtful energy,
Things are not where they ought to be,
In reflections on our lack of equanimity
In today’s USA Law and Order mentality:-
“Damn if I do…damn if I don’t”, has now become
An Oppressor Syndrome stagnation pandemic,
Leaving us wallowing in abject apathetic dismay;
Unaware that making change voids sameness:-
What is really true is: “To not know is bad;
To not wish to know is worse”...[and so sad].
Our Ancestors, with less, did so much more
Fighting the oppressive racist curse—
Leaving you and me with less to do
With a less worst challenge:-
For those of you who wish to know
Just Goggle back 2 generations ago
And it will be revealed for you to see
There’s even less to do by thee:-
You, yours, and some of theirs,
Already have voting rights;
All you need to do is be registered,
And vote when ready to do so:-
No matter what it is that's itching your brain,
Just know there will be so much less to do
With the lesser of the evil of the two:-
The seed is given;
Let’s get on with the sowing—
Reaping is waiting:-
(2024 -1921 = 103)*
We’ve come a long way;
Emancipation is here—
Liberation waits:-
We can no longer afford to be
As apathetic caterpillars,
Self-cocooned and lingering about;
Cocooning time’s over.
Like freed butterflies, we must
Soar to those voting polls
And be as bees from the hives
Pollinating liberating pillars:-
Despite the season's nature,
Let us be as the coming spring;
Let the fruits of our labors
Be sweet and juicy with liberty:-
