Consider How You Would Feel

How would you feel if a bully told lies
Pulling the wool over everyone's eyes?
How would you feel if you were misunderstood
If things were twisted when you tried to do good?
How would you feel if one of your own
Became your arch-enemy, dividing your home?
How would you feel if you set a date
To put matters right, but you have to wait?
Would you be able to give through your pain
Despite all the slander brought against your name?
Would you take the trouble to look deep within
To see what's behind the offense or sin?
Would your heart be moved to empathise
With the pain that's revealed through welled up eyes?
Would you acknowledge or act on what you've heard
And seen, even consider the unspoken word?
How would you feel if you wanted the best
For the very people who put your love to the test?
How would you feel if you had to face
The blame for all the suffering currently in place?
We tend to go inward when we need to address
The reasons behind our pain or distress. 
We isolate ourselves because it feels safe and secure
To close ourselves in and lock our door.
When we feel taken for granted, do we still want to give?
If our trust is broken, do we let go and forgive?
But there is someone special who rises above
Every single challenge brought against his love!
Does that not deserve a great measure of glory?
Will we stop and consider God's side of the story?
