Conservation Walk
The beautiful conservation walk by the lake,
What a beautiful place, the ducks swimming on the pond.
The pathway is long and winding, there are bushes and wildflowers,
Water lilies unfold like stars on the lily pad.
The tall trees camouflage the lake,
There is a bridge that leads to the other side of the conservation area.
Along the lake there are tall spruces and pines,
The geese could be seen walking and swimming in the lake.
Now and then you would see a friend and say hello,
You continue to walk and reach the dam which is fenced off.
The ducks are swimming here and there,
The flowers that blossom in the gardens .
Fish can be seen swimming in the pond,
Large goldfish flitting about among the weeds.
The tai chi group exercising by the lake,
The community center nearby where seniors meet.
I sit on the bench and gaze at the activity around the lake,
The walkway back to the senior's residence.
You could see the gray and black squirrels scampering about,
Pine cones fall from the spruce and pine trees.
I used to like collecting the pine cones, reminded me of Christmas,
My favorite dancing tree beside the bridge worn with time.
What a beautiful walk to remember, days of sunshine and good weather,
With friends and good neighbors.
