I
grew
in 'fear'
with panic
and with suspicion.
Everyday was apprehension
filled with terror, anxiety, and great cowardice.
Fearful emotions filled my child's life when a tragic experience left me broken.

My
days
mournful
bleak with woe.
Oh, the deep 'sadness'
and the forlorn tears, and the gloom.
Most days I was just melancholy anguish, sadness,
I was all darkness blue woeful gloomy with long days a struggle to live & exist.

But,
one
morning
I rose up
and transcended life.
Fear and sadness left my mind, life
I was content in faith, joy, calmness, and happiness
with bravery courage trust love & cheer gladness & delight, happy to be alive.

Constance, congratulations on your win! I love the flow of this poem and the shape, so like a lily pad unfolding into a new "consciousness." And the way you started with third stanza perfectly stops the emotions of the first two stanzas alerting me to a new "a-ha!" Well done. Advent blessings of peace, hope, joy and love to you!
