Connection

When you first left me
I couldn't let you go
My heart was so broken 
And I missed you so.

The darkness followed me,
Through day and the night
I just felt oh so lost
Until I saw the light.

It started with small signs
That I saw here and there.
Then I started to see the signs,
signs were everywhere.

Had I lost my mind? I thought.
Well, that'd be alright,
Cause things are so much better
When I am in the light.

I am not crazy at all, you see
I'm actually quite sane.
And I know beyond a doubt
that I will see you again.

The pain became much less, 
you helped my heart mend.
You helped me begin to see
that death is not the end.

The bond that we shared
While you were still here
Has not gone anywhere,
You are still so near.

I am learning new ways
to connect to you,
I know that it's not easy
For you to come through.

But our bond hasn't been broken,
You see, it's still there. 
Death has just changed it,
it hasn't gone anywhere.

I'll see you in Heaven 
When it's time to be,
But until that time,
Thanks for connecting to me.
