Confession Time

I like to think myself basically honest
And lean more towards good than bad.
I can still count the times I have totally lost the plot.
Though I don't care to say how often swearing lets me down.
I know I have work to do there.

I count myself a good neighbour
And keep any friends I make.
I say good day to those who pass me in the street.
And I am nearly always keen to help out if asked.
My ears make good sounding boards
And People come to me for advice.
So my conscience I deem clear in all areas except one.

There is something really wicked about me you should know.
My sense of humour is hard to keep under control.
Even though it may seem wrong I am not prepared
To change it in any way.
It's delightfully delicious and often mischievous ways I embrace every day.
How could I even consider giving it the flick,
When it produces a smile such as that from you every time I let it have
It's wicked way.
And it would not be fair to those who shake their belly every time
I give it free reign to tell a joke.

I hope you will make an exception and give me dispensation
To continue being ever so slightly wicked in this way.

How wicked can a sense of humor be? You, certainly, have my permission.

According to some religions, some dictatorships, some prudes, and the growing number of politically correct and those who can't take a joke, very wicked. Wish I was just joking. Having said that if the number of poets keeps growing then then my ways will not seem wicked at all.

Hey, good work David. It flows really well, like the spoken word itself. An uplifting piece if I may say. Cheers, Craig

You sound a lot like me, David. So let's hear some of your delicious jokes!! (it's hard to show though, since it has to come spontaneously with the situations we are in!!) I enjoyed your blog today!

Thank you kind lady. Did you hear about the man who changed his name from Peter to Paul because he was sick of being robbed. Nice to find a kindred spirit along life's highway that is happy to give us a lift whenever we run out of gas. Keep being you. David
