Comparative Leadership
I have a friend who is a retired elected official.
Like me, he has strong and abiding principles.
Most of our interaction is about three themes.
I have observed that on two of three fronts,
We are unified and on the same page.
In religion, we believe much the same.
In finance, we are both conservatives.
But in politics, we are worlds apart.
In a conversation recently, the subject
of leadership entered our discussion.
At first, we were opposed in our opinion
about a certain person being a leader.
We finally agreed that the person in question
was indeed a leader. However, we disagreed with
the good or bad parts. My friend felt that he was a bad
leader. I thought he was a good leader by comparison.
