Comes, Summer
Summer awakens ...
bright-eyed and bold green -
buds-to-blossoms, sweet;
blooms-to-lazy leaves,
whispering of life:
"Come, join the fray!
Feel the sun smile ...
let the moon paint
your enchantment!"
Days stretch to
daub dusk's cheek
its long kiss ...
Winter
but a ...
ghost.
~ 1st Place ~ in the "Diminished Hexaverse" Poetry Contest, Emile Pinet, Judge & Sponsor.
( I exchanged this with its sister poem, 'Comes, Spring', because I decided it didn't fit the parameters of the DH contest, having six stanzas, not five. Syllables = 5, 5, 5, 5, 5, 4, 4, 4, 4, 3, 3, 3, 2, 2, 1, counted at HowManySyllables.com )
