Come the Shadows
Come sweet shadows on the run
block the rays of twilight sun;
let evening begin its soft cascade
where blue skies slide to paler shades
of light undone.
A mix of yellowed greens
stretching high youthful and tall
into a night sky's horizon as it falls.
Come away a moment and listen
breathe in the day as the last light glistens.
Sing small mourning dove
coo and cry the dusky glove
as all spring creatures sleep.
Come sweet shadows, whisper and pray
mask the glimmer of the newly ending day.
