Colors of the Windows of the Soul
My father’s eyes were gentle
and of the brightest blue.
A never ending ocean.
A never changing hue.
My mother’s eyes were hazel,
a blend of blue and green.
like my dad’s, just beautiful
colors of a stream
My wife, her eyes, are bright green.
Within them, I get lost.
Just like the most fertile land
growing grass just after frost.
My children’s eyes, all different shades,
one hazel and three with blue.
Through their eyes, I see the world
and dreams that will come true.
My eyes, they too are hazel,
combining all above.
Through these eyes, I see their souls
and witness their sweet love.
