Cold Water
Sometimes, I have a feeling that I can never complete anything.
The dishes.
They are out to get me.
When they ask me to explain, the answer gets caught in my throat.
I always sit in my room as punishment.
Hoping the dishes will magically be washed by themselves.
While I clean the windows for the third time today.
I pretend my room is an hour glass.
Filling with quiet sand.
Then I dream of water.
That could be used for the dishes…
I remember all the times I did do the dishes.
They were perfect and sparkly,
But that was months ago.
These days, I take naps, and dream that I am doing the dishes perfectly.
She wakes me up,
And tells me that the water went cold.
