Cold Night Creeping
I saw the dark and cold night creeping,
pushing out day’s glorious light,
that reassured despair’s delight
in stirring hopeless sounds of sleeping.
I felt the pain of daydreams dying
flowing through my heart and soul
and ringing loud the painful dole
of night’s long song of stillness crying.
Then came the faith in morning dawning,
spreading its most brilliant ray;
quick born again was hope of day
that thru dark webs of night was spawning.
