Coffeeholics

Tim Horton's and Starbucks are cropping up On just about every corner We've become a nation of coffeeholics My choice is obviously the former Being Canadian and a hockey aficionado One of the reasons for my choice Tim Horton played for the Toronto Maple Leafs In the 50s and 60s we rejoiced He tragically died in an automobile accident On a highway in February '74 Just before this great franchise took flight And became a “one on every corner” store What a sad ending but his name lives on Becoming part of Canada's culture Was destined to become a very wealthy man Until his very untimely departure © Jack Ellison 2013

nicely done Jack, good rhymes, and nice tribute. I myself don't drink coffee. I have when my daughter worked at Starbucks in high school ;} only the seasonal drinks ;}

I went to McDonalds and someome ordered a McCaffee fancy coffee, but didn't pick it up... The workers offered it to me... YUM! YUM!... But I was bouncing off the walls till late that night... Hubby said it was hilarious to watch me! I'd have been walking on the ceiling if I could have got there! Love to try starbucks someday... But don't think I'd live thru it... LOL

Great write on daily experiences. You seem to be inspired by what you see every day and that makes you unique. You are able to spin a quatrain from a simple impression derived from the busy street! And, how you craft and propel the gist makes it a gem out of mere bog!

Crazy stuff. I know of Tim Hortons quite well (I had some good friends in Nova Scotia, Toronto, & Vancouver). Such a pity about the Founder. Good read!

We have a Tim Hortons here in my town, a very wonderful place, great food, great breakfast, and the like! I hear they have pretty good coffee too, but I don't drink coffee, I never liked the taste of it, I prefer Cokes...just as bad really! Your write is awesome my friend, made me want to go to Tim Hortons right away! Maybe I'll get there later on today, I'll let you know how it went, ha ha! Thank you for this wonderful poem my friend! I truly enjoyed reading this tremendous poem this morning!

Tragically, he lost his life never realizing the impact his little coffee shop had on our culture! So very sad!
