Coded Emotions

You take all the air around me so I can’t breathe,
You drain all the blood in my veins so my heart can’t beat,
But I’m afraid,
I’m afraid of trying and failing,
I’m afraid of failing the first time I attempt to try,
I’m afraid you might say no even before I’m done making the request,
And so I don’t try at all,
And I end up failing all the same.
