Cockspur Island Lighthouse

The light is gone
Totally put out
Scarey to those that roam
To all that are about

Suddenly the thunder
Of James Rifle gun fire
The shells are asundered
So you better be aware

When the shelling's finished
All can declare
Very little dents
Done to you there

Your light's not sent
Completely extinguished
Never to burn again
Not from weapons of war

But at the hands of men
Possibly total extinctions from nature

I love the way you have captured the essence of what it's like to be a poet and the agony of rejection in the second quatrain- Kudos! poet butterfly
