Coat On a Bench

Coat on a Bench An abandoned coat draped on a bench, covered in leaves and dried grass. Pink fairies and princesses infer it’s a girl’s. How could she forget it? It’s lonely, lifeless and limp, hoping she’ll return and clutch it around her and take it home. Sometimes, I feel like this coat draped on a bench. Alone and abandoned by a forgetful wench, but it’s not for long just a fleeting thought, when I look at the coat I know it was loved, like me ? when first it was bought.

Nicely penned Dave. I could feel the field emotion rise in the words them melt away in resignation. Congrats.

Unique analogy in this arresting poem, Dave Cox. Never quit on love for yourself ... after 10 years, I am loved by a Christian woman, & I don't have to justify my faith in Jesus, to the one I love anymore. Glad to see more of your work here. shalom, shalom. Anil Deo

I was waiting for my car's oil change. It's nothing to do with my life, but I saw it on a bench and wrote the poem. Personally, I am very happy. Read 'from Ukraine with love' That's my life. Thank you very much for your comment. Dave
