Coat On a Bench
Coat on a Bench
An abandoned coat
draped on a bench,
covered in leaves
and dried grass.
Pink fairies and princesses
infer it’s a girl’s.
How could she forget it?
It’s lonely, lifeless and limp,
hoping she’ll return
and clutch it around her
and take it home.
Sometimes,
I feel like this coat
draped on a bench.
Alone and abandoned
by a forgetful wench,
but it’s not for long
just a fleeting thought,
when I look at the coat
I know it was loved,
like me ? when first it was bought.
