Clothespins

Years ago, in Holland, In a cool, eclectic store, I bought a set of clothespins To jazz up my home décor. Of brightly colored wood And smaller than the average size, I pictured them with photos Hanging like a sweet surprise. My plan did fizzle like The best-laid ones of mice and men. I tucked those clothespins where I haven’t seen them since back then. Until I started washing All my laundry in the sink And hung a make-shift clothesline Using – well, what do you think? My cheerful little clothespins, Which have waited all this time To be used as they were meant to And immortalized in rhyme.

I echo Jan's sentiments. Waiting for that "watching paint dry" masterpiece! Seriously, this is a lovely piece of writing about your delightful wooden clothespins. Now, however you end up displaying them, they will have their own story and poem! Love it.

This is delightful, Ilene. I am not surprised in the least that you found them when you needed them.

oh how wonderful you found them again and put them to their proper use and of course we got to read your delightful rhyme. Ilene I think you could write a poem on watching paint dry and make it witty and entertain your fans here one soup, why not get the grandkids to paint and draw pictures and send them to you and then you could display then with your pretty pegs:-) hugs Jan xx

A nice little reminiscence, Ilene, that tells more than its surface message...I enjoyed this!
