Closing Time

Life, lightened by the spoken word Embellished by a secret chord Once struck your ear, it never grew to bore you No need to prove that the song was right As every line's a blaze of light Rehearsed throughout his lifetime, Hallelujah! Denotes the poet's major Glory! Closing time was the poet's code Of Chelsea Hotel's dancing mode "Hell to Pay" when the singing stops? Eternal music never lost! Now feels like freedom, just looks like death. His Story! January, 11, 2020 Contest: What’s In A Name Sponsored by: Juliet Ligon

I have to be honest, Margarita, I wasn’t familiar with Leonard Cohen or his music, I had to look him up but it was well worth it. Thank you for educating me. I like the way you worked his song titles into your poem, nicely penned my friend. Hugs, John
