Classical Music

Folks more sophisticated than me might say I ain't got no couth, I suppose, But I ain't a fan of Bach, Liszt and Mozart nor the music they compose! Spare me the screechin' violins, growlin' cellos and twitterin' piccolos, The rumblin' bassoons, the thunderin' timpani and the odious oboes! Seems the woodwinds, strings, brass and percussion do their own thing, Renderin' ramblin' and atonal piffle - no pleasure to mine ear doth it bring! I'd rather listen ad infinitum to Elva Ruby Miller's shrill and off-key renditions, Than suffer the agony of a two-hour symphony by professional musicians!

Glad to hear that this is at least somewhat tongue-in-cheek; otherwise I might have to Bach off reading all of your classis poems! Happy Holidays, my friend. Enjoyed this one. Best wishes, Gershon

Like you said, Gershon, written with considerable tongue in cheek! I enjoy classical truth be said. I wake each morn to classical on my bedside radio and have it programmed to a classical station here in Col Springs on the car radio. For your info if interested tune in to KCMS.ORG on your computer - they play classical 24/365

A follow up: Thanks for the radio station letters you listen to. I listen on my iMac to WCRB 99.5, a 24-hour station. I also tune to live concerts on YouTube, sometimes opera. I grew up on classical music and it has never left me. It is a spirit-lifter in my lfe and I am very grateful for it. Many thanks, friend. / M

Hey, Robert, dear friend and poet, you may not know it, but you just saved your life from my hands! Thought at first you were dead serious about the only music I listen to daily from morn till bedtime. Yet you're descriptions of the instruments tells me you have a good musical ear! Thanks for the posting. Best to you always. /M

Hi Robert, love this tongue in cheek write on classical music. I have to admit, I could listen to it for ours, opera also. The good thing, I love many different kinds of music. All this new fangled rubbish is out though and rap, well, who wants to sit and listen to people swearing, definitely out. I loved the content of the piece. Well written my friend. Have a wonderful weekend. Have a wonderful holiday season....Mike.
