City Songbirds Versus Country Songbirds

The city songbirds sing melodies shorter and faster
shorter and faster, shorter and faster.
Their singing is annoyingly high-pitched,
A squeak, a peep, shrill, abrupt.

Their country cousins do not recognize their language
Singing more slowly, their melodies are relaxed and easy
Their songs are pretty, a tribute to butterflies.
A lilting lovely lullaby beautified up.

Maurice Rigoler May 4, 2021 at 1:52 PM I live on the edge of a small town. The birds nearby are up and rehearing at 4 a.m. when I take the dog out to do his you-know-what. Some mornings they're joined by crows and bluejays as in an obligato most noisy and unwelcomed!!! The corner of the city is more complex due to the diversity of shape and complexity of the instruments used ... Even so has its pearls ...
